about me

My name is Luke Kotai & I have been a “bedroom” producer since I was 15. While not strictly producing in my bedroom anymore, I still very much consider myself a bedroom producer now. I am not interested in making money from my music, you are free to distribute my music as long as you attribute my rights accordingly.

I learnt the violin from when I was 6 or 7 and played well until my early 20s - much of it professionally. I do have a violin still, but I don’t play anymore.

I became interested in Music Production by trying to “Mix” audio files with similar keys and tempo when I was about 13 or 14. I had a 386 PC with an audio program (which I can’t remember) and I really had no idea about how to go about making complete audio files. Most of my tracks were confusing gibberish, but I still enjoyed the chaotic process immensely.

As computing power evolved I got my hands on my first DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) which I think might have been a version of Cubase. When Sonic Foundary ACID (now owned by SONY :( ) came out I saw the power of loop based sampling. Until this time I was associated tempo with pitch - that if you effected one you effected the other.

Anyway, fast forward, I played in a bunch of bands some good and a LOT bad. I’ve really come to appreciate live performance, however it’s not really my forte.

In the meantime, I’ll keep churning out the tracks solo or with collaborating artists - mainly for my own enjoyment.

If you want to collaborate, you can reach me in the about section of this page.

I’ll try keep the tracks coming up, otherwise I’m also active on Soundcloud.

Cheers,

Luke
